Operations Research Scientist

Seeking an analytical Operations Research Scientist to create advanced optimization, ML, and decision-support algorithms that enhance network efficiency, service reliability, and cost performance. You will apply cutting-edge OR, reinforcement learning, and math optimization to tackle complex transportation and logistics challenges alongside key business stakeholders and technical teams.

Responsibilities:

Build real-time, tactical, and strategic disruption recovery models for transit operations.
Design and deploy optimization, simulation, and ML models in Python, Java, or C++.
Maintain and upgrade production OR systems and integrate tools into enterprise environments.
Resolve data quality gaps, validate models, and conduct feature engineering.
Guide team members, present findings to executive leadership, and drive service resiliency.

Requirements:

3–5 years of experience deploying decision-support OR models.
Master’s or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, CS, or Data Science.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Java/C++ alongside solver experience (Gurobi, CPLEX).
Expertise in LP, MIP, NLP, deep learning, discrete-event simulation, and reinforcement learning.
Preferred: Background in rail transit operations, routing, scheduling, or asset allocation.
US Work Authorization required (no sponsorship).

12-month contract in Midtown Atlanta (hybrid: 2 days onsite, 1 week travel/year) with paid parking.
